This recognition highlights the team’s commitment to academic excellence, with a combined GPA of 3.72 and seven student-athletes achieving recognition as ITA Scholar-Athletes.

The seven honorees are: Sofia Blanco, Carolina Chiatti, Sunskrithi Damera, Rachel Hermanova, Mia Miranda, Elizabeth Sobieski, and Mariana Zegada. To qualify for the ITA Scholar-Athlete award, these athletes all maintained GPAs of 3.5 or above throughout the academic year.

This achievement marks the sixth consecutive season that WKU Women’s Tennis has received the ITA All-Academic Team designation. In addition to their academic success, the team also received the title of CUSA Scholar Team of the Year in Women’s Tennis. They were honored with the TOPSY Award as WKU’s Women’s Scholar Team of the Year, underscoring their overall excellence both on and off the court.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Greg Davis, who is completing his seventh season with the program, the team achieved notable success during the 2025 season. The Lady Toppers concluded the season with an overall record of 15-10, which ties for the third-most wins in a single season in the program’s history. The team also achieved a home record of 12-6, tying for the most home wins in a season, reflecting a strong performance at their home facility.

Davis ranks tied for 23rd nationally in wins among active NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis head coaches, boasting a career coaching record of 337-192 since 1999, with a winning percentage of .637. This places him 36th among active NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis head coaches. His tenure at WKU has been historic, achieving a record-breaking four-year stretch with 62 wins and coaching eight players who rank in the top 10 for combined career singles and doubles wins.

During the 2025 season, notable individual achievements included Sofia Blanco becoming the first player in WKU history to reach 100 combined career wins (singles and doubles), while Rachel Hermanova set a program record for career singles wins with 62. The Lady Toppers also earned a record total of five CUSA weekly awards. Furthermore, Blanco and Hermanova made history as the first doubles team from WKU to qualify for the ITA Division I Women’s Tennis Doubles rankings, climbing as high as No. 85 nationally.

The continued success of the WKU Women’s Tennis team reflects not only their athletic prowess but also a robust commitment to academic achievement, fostering a culture where academic excellence and athletic performance go hand in hand.
