James M. (Jamie) Yowell III, a beloved member of the Bowling Green community, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the age of 56. His family and friends remember him for his dedication to his loved ones, church, and profession.

Born on December 3, 1968, in Huntsville, Alabama, Jamie was the son of James M. (Mac) and Carol Yowell. He graduated from Warren Central High School in 1986 and later pursued further education at Western Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky. Jamie was deeply spiritual and was saved at a young age while attending Living Hope Baptist Church. At the time of his passing, he was a dedicated member of Hillvue Heights Church, where he volunteered for the Kids Ministry and the Reach Team.

Professionally, Jamie earned respect as a construction supervisor and worked for several prominent firms, including Kay and Kay Contracting, Hinkle Construction, and Scott and Murphy, Inc. His work ethic and leadership made a significant impact in his field. Apart from his career, Jamie was passionate about his family, investing time and energy into the lives of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Lynette Yowell, and their two children: James M. (Jay) Yowell IV of Auburn, Kentucky, and Ashlee Yowell of Middlesboro, Kentucky. He leaves a legacy as a devoted father and grandfather to four grandchildren: James M. Yowell V, Jaslynn Gregory, Jaxon Gregory, and Jaylee Gregory. Jamie also has a surviving sister, Lisa Hines, who resides in Cumming, Georgia, along with aunt Pat Snapp and numerous cousins.

Alongside his many loved ones, Jamie was preceded in death by several family members, including his great-grandmother Clara Denison, paternal grandparents George and Lyda Saunders, maternal grandparents Joe and Verdenia Rust, great-aunt June Rountree, and cousins Arlene Rountree, John Rountree, Casey Quinn, as well as his best friend, Steve Combs.

Arrangements for Jamie’s memorial service have been entrusted to J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Hillvue Heights Church Chapel, located at 3219 Nashville Road. Following the visitation, a private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be directed to the Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund in memory of James M. (Jamie) Yowell III. This initiative aims to support victims of the devastating tornadoes that struck the area on May 16, 2025.

Jamie Yowell’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of service, love, and commitment to the community will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life.
