The Shrine Bowl 1000 Watchlist showcases the top 1,000 players in college football who are eligible for one of the most prestigious all-star games. Noah Meyers, a redshirt sophomore from Louisville, Kentucky, has been acknowledged for his contributions on the field. In the 2024 season, he participated in eight games, starting five, and was instrumental during the latter part of the season leading up to the Boca Raton Bowl.
Meyers achieved notable statistics last season, catching a total of seven passes for 123 yards and scoring one touchdown. His standout moment came during a win against Kennesaw State on October 30, where he recorded a 17-yard touchdown catch. Furthermore, he posted his best performance on November 30 against Jax State, accumulating 66 yards on three receptions.
In his inaugural season with the WKU football team, Meyers contributed depth at the tight end position and played on special teams, making appearances in three games. His early achievements led to him being named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team at tight end.
The Club’s East-West Shrine Bowl allows collegiate stars to showcase their skills, and it aims to support Shriners Children’s. The next game will be held on January 27, 2026, at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Numerous former WKU players, including quarterback Austin Reed and defensive lineman Brodric Martin, have previously participated in the event.
WKU is preparing to kick off their 2025 football season on August 23 with a Week 0 CUSA game against Sam Houston at Houchens-Smith Stadium. The game will commence at 6 p.m. CT and will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network.
Meanwhile, Maverick McIvor has also gained recognition by being named to the Maxwell Award Watch List, an accolade given to the College Player of the Year since 1937. McIvor is among 80 players from various FBS programs and is notably one of only two players from Conference USA to be included in this list.
McIvor transferred to WKU after spending three seasons at Abilene Christian University, where he emerged as one of the top performers at the FCS level. He concluded his time there with impressive statistics, having thrown for 8,012 yards and 63 touchdowns across his career.
