Thunderfest Set to Move to New Location This Summer
Bowling Green, Ky. – Known fondly as one of the most cherished celebrations of South Central Kentucky, Thunderfest, will be moving to a new location this summer. Presented each year by the esteemed Bowling Green Kiwanis Club, this spectacle of fireworks that lights up the sky was previously organized at the Corvette Museum Amphitheater.
Forces Behind the Shift
The reason behind the shift in location has come about due to recent construction projects taking place at the Corvette Museum Amphitheater, the former venue of this grand event. The area that had served as the backdrop for launching these mesmerizing fireworks, located behind a line of trees near the amphitheater, is being transformed into a residential zone with new apartments.
This transformation has consequentially led to implementation of sound ordinances and safety concerns, hence, restrictions on launching fireworks in such close proximity of residential structures. The new location now selected for Thunderfest is the Ephram White Park.
Ensuring Safety and Enjoyment
Whitney Kinslow, co-chair for Thunderfest, emphasized the commitment to safety stating, “Of course, safety is our number one priority for Thunderfest. There are restrictions because of that… on how close we can be to certain structures, especially residential or apartment structures.”
The move to Ephram White Park, however, is not just about adhering to safety norms. The new location will come with its own set of advantages for the visitors. Comparatively, the new location offers more parking spaces than the amphitheater and has two exits strategically located for streamlining the post-show traffic.
Kinslow was enthusiastic as she urged the attendees to embrace this change and called on the community to cherish the experience at the new location.
