Glendon Irl Arnold, a 71-year-old Army veteran and beloved family man, passed away on May 7, 2025, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. His passing is mourned by family, friends, and the community who knew him as a kind-hearted individual dedicated to helping others.

Born on April 11, 1954, in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, Arnold was the son of Darrel and Bettye (Richardson) Arnold. He is survived by his daughter, Katie Ballard, and son-in-law Aaron Ballard. The family also includes his two granddaughters, Averie and Mia Ballard, who reside in Union, Kentucky. In addition to his immediate family, Arnold is survived by three brothers: Perry Arnold (married to Stephanie), Kelly Arnold (married to Kristy), and two sisters: Jackie Wisdom (married to Larry) and Charlene Creager (married to Mitch), along with several nieces and nephews.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ramona Arnold, along with a nephew, Joseph Glen Baize. His family and friends will remember him not only for his military service but also for his zest for life and sensitivity towards others. Despite exhibiting a playful stubbornness, he maintained a genuine caring nature that left a lasting impact on those he met.

A Life Filled with Family and Craftsmanship

Throughout his life, Arnold was devoted to his family. He cherished the time spent with them, often finding joy in simple moments. A skilled carpenter and craftsman, he embraced the outdoors and physical work, enjoying the satisfaction of creating and building. He exhibited a remarkable ability to find contentment in life’s simple pleasures.

Arnold was affectionately known as “Deeda” by those closest to him, a testament to his warm and nurturing demeanor. His philosophy, “It helps to help,” exemplified his commitment to making others feel valued and loved. This principle guided his interactions both within and outside his family, allowing him to touch many lives within the Bowling Green community.

Legacy and Memorial Arrangements

A private celebration of life for Glendon Irl Arnold will be arranged at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance of his life and contributions. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, located at 5872 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY, for their compassionate care during his final days. In lieu of flowers, they kindly request donations to be made in his memory to the hospice organization, which served him and his family with dedication and respect.

Arnold’s legacy as a caring family man, a steadfast veteran, and a generous spirit will be remembered fondly by those who knew him. His life serves as an enduring reminder of the kindness that can be shared within communities.
