Bowling Green – Marvin K. Russell, a respected member of the Bowling Green community and a dedicated family man, passed away on May 5, 2025, at the age of 77 in his residence. Russell leaves behind a legacy that includes a loving family and decades of service in the trucking industry.

Born in Warren County, Marvin was the son of the late Ben and Mary Gladys Warren Russell. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Stanley Russell, and three children: Jamie Miller, Jimmy Constant, and Chris Russell, who is married to Samantha. Additionally, he was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, demonstrating a deep commitment to family values.

Marvin K. Russell enjoyed a lengthy career in the trucking industry, working for over 30 years. His dedication to his profession led him to retire from both the Teamsters Union and Bowling Green Transit, where he had made significant contributions to the local economy and community. He was also an active member of Faith Methodist Church, further exemplifying his commitment to community service and involvement.

Marvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Russell, as well as his seven brothers – L.W., Buford, Charles, Bennie, Jackie, Joe, and Eddie Russell – and one sister, Etta May Alford. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Ray Alford, and sister-in-law, Barbara Russell, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished their time with him.

His funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. on May 9, 2025, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Friends and family will have the opportunity to pay their respects during visitation hours, which will take place from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on May 8 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the day of the funeral. Burial will follow the service at Green River Union Cemetery.

The family expresses their profound gratitude to Dr. Michael Byrne, Chaplain Tim Colovos, and hospice workers Abby and Taylor for the care provided to Marvin during his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, located at 5872 Scottsville Rd., Bowling Green, KY 42104, to help support the important work they do in the community.

Marvin K. Russell’s passing marks the end of an era, but his legacy will live on through his family, friends, and the community he has touched throughout his life. His dedication to service, both in his career and personal life, serves as an inspiration to those who knew him.
