Martha Jean Carter of Scottsville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 70 years old. Her unwavering strength and commitment to her family and faith touched the lives of many in her community.

Carter dedicated many years to serving the youth of Allen County as a retired employee of the Allen County School system. Before this role, she spent 33 years working at the Dollar General Corporate office and had also held a position with Dr. Joseph Zaydon. An active member of iLive Church, she remained devoted to her faith throughout her life.

Married for 48 years to her husband, Roger Carter, Martha is survived by her husband, a daughter named Shannon Carver and her husband Kevin, and her brother, Harold Anderson and wife Cynthia. She also leaves behind four loving sisters: Wanda Ferrell and husband Ron, Dianna McDaniel, Teresa Towe, and Linda Walker.

Legacy of Family

Martha’s legacy continues through her four grandchildren: Alex Stinson and husband Caleb, Jasmine Carter, Brooklyn Carter, and Kanan Carver. Additionally, she was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Brynlee Stinson and Parker Stinson. She cherished her relationships with her family and was a significant source of support and inspiration for them.

She also had a close friendship with Dreama Pinson and will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her son, Josh Carter; her sister, Corana Preasmyer; her nephew, David Preasmyer; and her parents, Harold B. Anderson, Sr. and Mattie Louise Andrews Anderson.

Funeral Arrangements

A funeral service for Martha Carter is scheduled for Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Goad Funeral Home, with services officiated by Kevin Carver, Harold Anderson, and Ron Ferrell. Visitation will be available to friends and family on Monday from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., and also on Tuesday from 7:00 A.M. until the service begins. Following the service, burial will take place at Carter’s Tabernacle Cemetery.
