Bowling Green, Kentucky – Indictments Issued for Immigration and Gun Offenses

On May 13 and 14, federal grand juries in Bowling Green and Paducah, Kentucky, returned indictments against six individuals on various immigration and gun charges. The cases, which contain serious allegations, span across four indictments in Paducah and two in Bowling Green.

Details of the Indictments in Paducah

In Paducah, two individuals stand accused of serious immigration violations and two others face significant gun charges.

Santos Pastor-Juarez, 52, a citizen of Guatemala, is charged with reentry after deportation. He was found in the United States around April 28, having previously been deported on March 6, 1998. If convicted, Pastor-Juarez could face up to two years in prison.

Another Paducah resident, Ulises Macario Gonzaga-Guillen, 32, from Mexico, faces four counts of making false statements intended to deceive firearms dealers. From January 1 to April 21, he allegedly claimed he was a U.S. citizen and not an illegal alien while purchasing firearms. His offenses carry a maximum possible sentence of 73 years if convicted.

Additionally, Rodrigo Waldemarr Caal-Caal, a 22-year-old Guatemalan citizen, is charged with illegal possession of a firearm. During a police investigation, he admitted to having a gun. He could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Background of the Indictments

The indictments were announced by U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett and are part of a broader initiative known as Operation Take Back America. This operation aims to combat illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and violent crime in various regions of the United States. The indictments received support from federal law enforcement agencies such as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Homeland Security Investigations.

Following the indictments, a federal district court judge will determine the sentences for each individual, with the caveat that there is no possibility of parole in the federal justice system.

These cases underscore ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws and combat illegal firearms possession, forming a critical part of national security and public safety initiatives. Enforcement actions continue to be vital in addressing the intersection of immigration and criminal activity in the region.
