Chelsea was born on January 8, 1992, in Edmonson County to Dion and Lois Ann Houchins. She is survived by her husband, Kelley Coleman, whom she described as her devoted husband, soulmate, and best friend. Chelsea is also survived by her sister Courtney Kepple (Alan) of Chalybeate, her grandparents Linda Shephard and Jimmy Miller (Deb), and her brother-in-law Patrick Coleman (Michelle) of Chalybeate. Additionally, she leaves behind nieces Ava and Sloane Kepple and Penny Jeanne Coleman, along with multiple aunts and uncles.
Throughout her life, Chelsea was deeply committed to her community and actively engaged in various organizations that made a difference in the lives of others. She was an honors graduate of Edmonson County High School in 2010 and graduated cum laude from Western Kentucky University in 2013. In 2017, she became an alumna of Leadership Bowling Green. Chelsea was a notable member of the Bowling Green Junior Women’s Club and volunteered with organizations like Birdies for Brittney, demonstrating her dedication to local causes.
A lifelong member of Chalybeate United Baptist Church, Chelsea was saved as a young girl, emphasizing the strong ties she had to her faith and community. For over a decade, she worked at American Bank and Trust, focusing on building lasting relationships with clients and colleagues. Her professionalism and warmth made a lasting impact on those she served.
Chelsea had a passion for travel and enjoyed creating memories with family and friends. She was also a dedicated sports fan, passionately following college football and basketball, particularly the WKU Hilltoppers. In her personal life, she was a loving dog mom to her cherished dog, Mavis, and often shared stories of their time together.
Chelsea was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bobby Houchins and Donna Thompson Clark, which adds a layer of sorrow to her family’s loss during this difficult time.
Visitation for Chelsea will take place on Saturday, May 10, from 3 PM to 8 PM, and again on Sunday, May 11, from 10 AM to 2 PM at Chalybeate United Baptist Church. The funeral service is scheduled for 2 PM on Sunday, May 11, at the church, followed by burial at Kinser Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, honoring Chelsea’s spirit of generosity and her commitment to helping others.
