Bowling Green – Chelsea Elizabeth Houchins Coleman, a cherished member of the Bowling Green community, passed away peacefully at the age of 33 on May 7, 2025. She died at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family in her final moments.

Born on January 8, 1992, in Edmonson County, Chelsea was the beloved daughter of Dion and Lois Ann Houchins. She is survived by her devoted husband, Kelley Coleman, her parents, and her sister, Courtney Kepple, along with numerous friends and extended family members. Chelsea was a loving dog mom to her dear dog, Mavis.

Education and Career

Chelsea graduated with honors from Edmonson County High School in 2010, followed by her enrollment at Western Kentucky University, where she obtained a cum laude degree in 2013. Demonstrating her commitment to leadership and community service, she became an alumna of Leadership Bowling Green in 2017.

Community Involvement

Throughout her life, Chelsea was deeply committed to her community, engaging in various organizations and volunteer work. She was actively involved in Birdies for Brittney and was a dynamic member of the Bowling Green Junior Women’s Club. A lifelong member of Chalybeate United Baptist Church, Chelsea was saved as a young girl and maintained her spiritual ties throughout her life.

Profession and Personal Life

For over a decade, Chelsea worked in banking at American Bank and Trust, balancing her professional responsibilities with a vibrant personal life. She was known for cherishing experiences, often traveling and creating lasting memories with family and friends. Chelsea had a particular passion for college sports, passionately supporting the WKU Hilltoppers in football and basketball.

Survivors and Preceding Family

In addition to her husband, parents, and sister, Chelsea is also survived by her grandparents, Linda Shephard and Jimmy Miller (Deb), her brother-in-law, Patrick Coleman (Michelle), and her nieces, Ava, Sloane Kepple, and Penny Jeanne Coleman. Chelsea was preceded in death by her grandparents Bobby Houchins and Donna Thompson Clark.

Funeral Arrangements

Funeral arrangements for Chelsea Coleman are being handled by Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel. Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 3 PM to 8 PM and again on Sunday, May 11, 2025, from 10 AM to 2 PM at Chalybeate United Baptist Church, located at 690 Chalybeate School Road, Smiths Grove, KY 42171.

The funeral service is scheduled for 2 PM on Sunday, May 11, 2025, also at Chalybeate United Baptist Church. Chelsea will be interred at Kinser Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to honor her life and legacy.

Memorial Contributions

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, located at 5872 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42104, to support the organization that provided care during Chelsea’s final days.

Chelsea Coleman will be profoundly missed by her community, family, and friends, whose lives she touched with her kindness and unwavering spirit.
