This week, the Bowling Green Fire Department tackled two significant structure fires at Magna and Kenway Disposal. The department responded swiftly to both incidents, effectively extinguishing the fires without any reported injuries. These events underscore local fire safety challenges and the preparedness of emergency services. Additionally, the fire division is honoring fallen firefighters through a week-long tribute. Residents are urged to stay informed about fire safety practices.

Bowling Green – The Bowling Green Fire Department responded to two significant structure fires this week, with incidents occurring at both Magna and Kenway Disposal. The first fire was reported at approximately 6:05 a.m. on Friday at 111 Cosma Drive, where nine units were dispatched to combat the flames.

Upon arrival at the Magna facility, fire crews observed visible flames emerging from the roof. The firefighters quickly located the source of the fire and successfully extinguished it. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident at Magna.

Earlier in the week, on Wednesday morning, the fire department received a call concerning a fire at Kenway Disposal, located on Louisville Road. The alarm was raised just before 7 a.m., prompting an immediate response from emergency personnel. Firefighters encountered an intense blaze in a large trash pile, which posed a significant risk to an adjacent building.

Fire crews were able to contain the fire at Kenway Disposal swiftly, ensuring that the flames did not spread to nearby structures. Similar to the incident at Magna, there were no injuries reported from this fire. To ensure complete safety and effectiveness, fire crews remained on the scene throughout the day to conduct fire control operations.

These recent incidents highlight the ongoing fire safety challenges faced by the Bowling Green community. The Bowling Green Fire Department is well-equipped to handle such emergencies, as demonstrated by their swift and effective response in both instances.

In addition to managing these structural fires, the Bowling Green Fire Division is currently engaged in honoring fallen firefighters. From April 27 to May 4, the division will light up local landmarks in red as a tribute to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. This initiative not only raises awareness about the risks associated with firefighting but also pays respect to the sacrifices made by firefighters in service to their communities.

The proactive approach of the Bowling Green Fire Department during emergencies, combined with their efforts to honor fallen heroes, underscores their commitment to safety and community service. Residents are encouraged to remain informed regarding fire safety practices and to adhere to local warnings to help mitigate risks associated with fires.

As the week progresses, the fire department continues to monitor any ongoing health and safety needs related to these incidents, ensuring that the residents of Bowling Green remain safe and protected.
