Bowling Green, Kentucky – Community Loses a Beloved Figure

Alice Hays, a beloved matriarch and pillar of the Bowling Green community, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on June 4, 2025, surrounded by her family at Cal Turner Medical Center in Scottsville. Her presence will be deeply missed by her loved ones and the community she enriched through her kindness and devotion.

A Life of Love and Family

Alice was born on October 10, 1931, in Center Point, Kentucky, as one of nine children to Clyde and Robbie Moore. Throughout her life, she cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Alice was the loving wife of Kenneth Hays, who predeceased her in 1983. Together, they raised seven children: Sandy Dorsey, Vicki Rider and her husband David, Michael Hays and his wife Debbie, Donna Kendall and her husband Dale, Shelby Hays, Dean Hays and his wife Beth, and Sheila Scott and her husband Tony.

Her family legacy includes thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, who will undoubtedly honor her memory as they carry forward the values she instilled in them.

A Nurturer of Many

Alice Hays was not only a devoted family member but also a caring figure in the wider Bowling Green community. Known for her exceptional childcare abilities, she looked after many local children, offering them love and nurturing care. This connection to her community extended beyond her own family, as she was a well-regarded member of Northside Baptist Church.

A Love for Nature and Cooking

Alice’s talents were not limited to her loving nature; she was famously known as the “plant whisperer” for her remarkable ability to nurture plants and flowers, creating lush gardens that brought joy to many. Additionally, her outstanding culinary skills were a hallmark of her household, with family and friends frequently encouraged to savor her latest and greatest dishes.

Community Engagement

In her pursuit of joyful living, Alice was an active member of the Red Hat Society of Bowling Green, a group that promotes vibrant living and playful aging. Through her participation, she inspired others to embrace life and make the most of every moment. Her spirit and enthusiasm for life left a lasting impression on those around her.

Alice’s funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 12:00 Noon at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
