Helen Kereiakes, aged 92, passed away peacefully in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by her family. Formerly a longstanding resident of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Helen’s passing marks the loss of a dedicated educator and community leader who impacted many lives during her extensive career.

Born on March 27, 1933, in Marrowbone, Kentucky, Helen was the daughter of Cleo and Nevaline Bartley. She graduated from Marrowbone High School before furthering her education at Bowling Green Business University, now known as Western Kentucky University.

Throughout her professional life, Helen made significant contributions to education, teaching at various high schools and Bowling Green Business College. She dedicated many years as a substitute teacher within the Bowling Green Independent School System and later transitioned to a role as a case manager at the Kentucky Career Center/Unemployment Career Center, working there until the age of 80.

In addition to her educational endeavors, Helen was highly active in community service. She held leadership positions in the Warren County Jaycee-ettes and the Bowling Green Women’s Club. She was also involved with the Salvation Army and contributed to her community during her husband’s tenure as Mayor of Bowling Green.

Helen was a devoted member of Christ Episcopal Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Spero Kereiakes, her sister Virginia Bartley Rozelle, and her parents. She is survived by her two children: Dean B. Kereiakes and his girlfriend, Cynthia Ann Johnson, of Hardinsburg; and Ann Toni Kereiakes and her husband, Steve M. Dentinger, of Louisville. Helen also leaves behind three grandsons: Chase Fryer (married to Christina) of Germantown, Tennessee; Matthew Dentinger; and Nicholas Dentinger, both residing in Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally, she is survived by three great-grandchildren: Evie Ann, James, and Finn Fryer.

Visitation and Services

Visitation for Helen Kereiakes will be held on September 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Ratterman and Sons located at 3800 Bardstown Road, Louisville. A second visitation is scheduled for September 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at JC Kirby Funeral Home, located at 820 Lovers Lane, Bowling Green. Burial will follow the Bowling Green visitation at Fairview Cemetery.
