Morgantown, KY – Sally Rone, a beloved mother, grandmother, and retired nurse, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the age of 73. Her death has left a profound sense of loss in the community where she was cherished for her warmth and humor.

Sally was born on March 22, 1952, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to Harold and Ann Martin Rector, both of whom preceded her in death. She was the devoted wife of the late Michael Otto Rone. Together, they built a life filled with love and family, raising three children, Alison Cardwell (married to Ernie) of Morgantown, KY, Alana Wade (married to Alan) of Bowling Green, KY, and Adam Rone of Morgantown, KY. Sally was also a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and had three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her immediate family, Sally is survived by her seven siblings: Duane Rector (married to Karen) of Smiths Grove, KY; Cynthia Frey (married to Vaughn) of Danville, KY; Susan Throneberry (married to Robert) of Alvaton, KY; Ray Rector of Bowling Green, KY; Judy Mitchell (married to Mike) of Alabama; Nancy Roberts of Maryland; and Lisa Heile (married to Dan) of Utah.

Sally dedicated a significant portion of her life to nursing, serving as a Registered Nurse at Green River Boys Camp, where she was known for her compassion and commitment to her patients. Her skills extended beyond her profession; she was also renowned for her baking and cooking, often sharing delightful dishes and treats with family and friends. Her passion for quilting and sewing showcased her creativity, while her love for travel broadened her horizons and enriched her experiences.

Life outdoors brought Sally joy; she had a deep appreciation for nature and often found beauty in the simple pleasures it offered. Friends and family remember her as funny, creative, and a playful prankster, with an infectious sense of humor that could light up any room.

Funeral services honoring Sally Rone will be held at Jones Funeral Chapel on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with Bro. Johnny Kelton officiating. Prior to the service, visitation will take place at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Sally will be laid to rest at Salem Cemetery, where family and friends are invited to serve as pallbearers.
