Lafayette, Louisiana – Lillian Dee Hudson, a beloved member of the community, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the age of 90. Her death marks the end of a vibrant life filled with contributions to her community and cherished moments with her family, who are mourning her loss.
A Celebration of Life is planned to honor Lillian’s memory in Bowling Green, Kentucky, at a date to be announced. This gathering will provide an opportunity for friends and family to come together, sharing stories and fond memories of a woman who touched the lives of many throughout her journey.
Lillian was a native of Marsland, Nebraska, where she began her life. In the 1960s, she relocated to Bowling Green, Kentucky, where she became a well-known figure in the community as the owner of the Pink Chiffon Hair Salon, later rebranded as The Hair-em. Her business not only provided hairstyling services but also became a social hub for many, showcasing Lillian’s commitment to connecting with others.
In addition to her professional life, Lillian had a diverse range of interests and hobbies that reflected her vibrant personality. She was passionate about flower gardening, reading, and painting, and could often be found playing the piano or baking her famous lemon Christmas cookies, a recipe she cherished and shared with family and friends. In 2019, after years of dedication to her salon and community, she retired and made the decision to move to Louisiana, where she continued to engage in her passions while enjoying a more relaxed lifestyle.
Following her move, Lillian found joy in watching television and spending quality time with her family’s Labrador Retriever, named Ernie. This companionship brought her comfort during her later years, affirming the importance of family connections and the love of pets in enriching life experiences.
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Lily Ann Hume Andres, and her son-in-law Randy. She took great pride in her family lineage, including her granddaughter Rebecca Theriot, who is married to Thomas, and her great-grandson, Blake Theriot. In addition, she leaves behind several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and a special great-great niece, Makayla Eleson. Lillian is remembered fondly by her numerous family members and friends, who will carry on her spirit of generosity and kindness.
She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Cooper, as well as her parents, Gertrude Bouck Hume and Harry Hume. Lillian also had a close-knit relationship with her four sisters: Gwen Knapp (Keith), Edna Clark (Pete), Orpha Davis (Buddie), and Shirley Hume, all of whom have shared cherished memories with her throughout their lives.
The arrangements for Lillian’s final farewells are being handled by Melancon Funeral Home, located at Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, LA. The family appreciates the outpouring of support during this difficult time and looks forward to celebrating Lillian’s life with the community she cherished.
