BOWLING GREEN, KY – Three new troopers have officially graduated from the Kentucky State Police Academy, ready to begin their careers with the agency as they report to Post 3 in Bowling Green. The graduation ceremony took place on May 4 in Frankfort, marking a significant milestone for the graduates: Kellen Thompson, Hany Elhubishi, and Devin Roten, who comprise a part of Cadet Class 105.
A total of 33 cadets completed the rigorous 24-week training program at the academy, which began with over 80 recruits in November 2024. This program included a wide range of subjects, such as constitutional law, juvenile and traffic law, use of force, weapons training, and defensive tactics. The training is designed to prepare the new troopers for the challenges they will face in their law enforcement roles.
In addition to the practical skills learned during training, 17 cadets from this graduating class were able to earn associate degrees in General Occupational and Technical Studies from Bluegrass Community and Technical College while completing their training. This accomplishment reflects the Kentucky State Police’s revised hiring policy, which now allows applicants with a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of full-time work experience to qualify for trooper training. The policy also facilitates the opportunity for recruits to earn a degree alongside their law enforcement training.
