BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Western Kentucky University’s volleyball program has officially announced its schedule for the 2025 season, comprising a total of 30 matches, with 15 set to take place at E.A. Diddle Arena. The season promises exciting matchups, including games against four teams that participated in the NCAA Tournament last year, three of which advanced beyond the first round. Notably, one of the opponents, Louisville, made it to the national championship match.
The 2025 season marks the commencement of WKU’s 44th volleyball season. The team will kick off the season with a home tournament, the WKU Invitational, scheduled for August 29-30, which will feature three matches against Wright State, Loyola-Chicago, and Drake.
Season Overview and Highlights
Following the opening tournament, the Hilltoppers will embark on a six-match road trip. This stretch includes participation in the Marquette tournament on September 5-6, where they will face off against Drake, Marquette, and Buffalo in Milwaukee. Subsequently, the team will compete against High Point, East Tennessee State, and Virginia Commonwealth University on September 12-13 in Johnson City, Tennessee.
WKU is set to host Vanderbilt at E.A. Diddle Arena on September 16, and then will participate in the eighth-annual Alyssa Cavanaugh Classic on September 19-20, featuring Bradley, Indiana, and Austin Peay. A significant highlight of the schedule will be the match against national runner-up Louisville on September 22.
Conference and Rivalry Matches
The Hilltoppers will begin their Conference USA play against Jacksonville State on September 26-27. The addition of Missouri State to Conference USA in the fall of 2025 will also be notable, as WKU travels to Springfield, Missouri, to compete against Missouri State on October 3-4. This is followed by a match against Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana on October 10-11.
After the road trip, WKU will host Sam Houston on October 17-18 and UTEP on October 24-25. The rivalry match, known as the “100 Miles of Hate,” will take place at Middle Tennessee on October 31 and November 1. The season will conclude with two home matches against Delaware on November 7-8 and a final encounter with Liberty on November 14-15 in Lynchburg, Virginia.

The 2025 Conference USA Championship is scheduled to be held from November 21-23 at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center in Miami.
This season, the Hilltoppers are bringing back eight returners, including key players such as Callahan Wiegandt, Callie Bauer, Gabby Weihe, Izzy Van De Wiele, Faith Young, Alivia Skidmore, Camila Adams, and Abby Schaefer. They will be joined by six new players, which includes four freshmen: Kaira Knox, Kennedy Cherry, Kate Rush, and Sonja Laaksonen, along with transfers Taylor Baron from Austin Peay and Kendall Meller from Colorado.

In the previous season, WKU finished with an impressive record of 28-7 overall and an undefeated 18-0 in Conference USA play, securing both their 10th regular-season title and their seventh Conference USA Tournament title.
In terms of fan engagement, new courtside seating will be available at Diddle Arena for the 2025 volleyball season, priced at $200 for each of the 15 home matches. Fans can purchase these seats by contacting the WKU Ticket Office. Additionally, season ticket packages are available for $75, allowing fans the chance to mix and match tickets throughout the season. Standard season ticket prices are set at $10 for adults, $7 for youth under 12, and $5 for groups of ten or more. Single-game tickets will be offered for sale closer to the start of the season.
